Opps!

Hey everyone!  Two things, first I made a boo boo on the summer calendar because I was having troubles with my new phone and so everyone who is linked to the summer calendar through their phone or anyone who checked the calendar yesterday or this morning got a peek into what my personal life looks like!  I have since removed my personal life from the calendar and though I would like to take you all on a trip to Texas that won't be happening any time soon.

The second item is that the Blueberry picking had to be rescheduled to Wednesday afternoon.  I know this means some won't be able to go and I'm sorry about that, however, please take the time to go with another friend at another time.  There was no group discount this time so the price is the same.

Again, I apologize for the mishaps and rescheduling.  Happy summer!

F.Y.I

Welcome to summer everyone!  There's been a few questions I thought I would answer here all at once.

1.The bowling is just a suggested time and date.  If you sign up under the KidsBowlFree.com website you can choose the place you want to bowl and you can bowl any day of the week you would like!  Also Mira Mesa is just a suggestion as well.  I didn't know Poway was listed this year until I had already registered but feel free to sign up for either one.  I placed them to follow the movie event times, especially for Mira Mesa so you could get the most out of your drive to Mira Mesa.

2. All of the events and times are just a suggestion.  Do or do not do, it's up to you!

3. Because I was able to find so many fun things to do during the summer, there were some complaints as to the schedule being too hard to distinguish between events that were scheduled specifically as get-togethers (i.e. pool & beach days) and events that were random through the city or county.  To rectify this situation I have designated 1-2 (and very occasionally 3) things each day of the week where our large group can "get together" with one another.  These events will be designated with a DN at the beginning of the event which stands for Del Norte.

4. Our little community is growing.  Several of us have invited friends from our bigger community so if you see someone show up to an event that you don't know please welcome them in!!!

5. Anyone and every is welcome at all events.  (Some events do have age restrictions) No activity on this calendar is exclusive except for age restrictions.  If you don't know the host, come and get to know them!  PLEASE FEEL WELCOME!!!

6. Anyone is welcome to host an event, such as a pool day.  If you will comment on this blog it will be added to the calendar.

7. The movies are also just a suggested date.  You don't have to go on the day listed, you may go any day they are playing.  Mira Mesa is Tue. Wed. and Thurs. I believe and Poway is Mon.-Fri.

8. Lastly if you have a smart phone and you can access a google account on your phone I can add your gmail account into the calendar so you can see the calendar in your phone.  I just need your google email address.

We'll see ya in the sun!

Are we ready for the event calendar?  I'm not quite finished with it but it's getting close!  I have a few more kinks to work out, a few scheduling dates for the pool to finish up on, a few Library's that have yet to release their summer calendars, and one Rec Center I need to pay a visit to because there is no PDF for their Program Events!!!  Other than those "minor" details I think we're ready!!!!  WHO'S WITH ME?!

Is it calling to you yet?

Beach Location Changed

I realized this post is going out just a few short hours before the event happens and I apologize for that. I wanted to let you know of a change for today. Torrey Pines beach at 10:00 today has been changed to Del Mar Beach at 10:00 today. For any of those who wish to participate and haven't been able to attend the times that the group has gone to Del Mar, just park as close to 18th St. as you can get and hoof it in! There should be a pretty good group there today so come out and have fun in the sun with the family!!!

Quick question

Hey Ladies! Just a quick question. Is the calendar at the bottom good enough or do you want to have me list the weeks activities on a post as well (which I can do, it's really not hard)? Let me know on Sunday or leave a comment!
Thanks!

News!!!

Hi Girls! I've heard it thru the grapevine that there are actually people checking this blog for activities. (I kind of thought maybe our readership had dwindled to 1!) I apologize for not updating sooner, but I will get back on track now. We cancelled the Padres game outing on Wednesday due to scheduling conflicts/lack of interest/fear of heat exhaustion.(how's that for an explanation?) :) Friday's pool day will be hosted by Emily Bradley at the Heritage Hills pool from 10am-noon. Hope to see lots there! Keep checking, and I'll be on the ball!

Railroad Museum-Tuesday this Week

Hi all! I'm wondering if anyone is interested in going to the free Railroad Museum day tomorrow at Balboa Park. I have to take my car in for service so I'm going to be without a vehicle all day so I am out, unless someone wants to go and can offer me and my three kiddos a ride... Let me know what y'all are thinking~

Credit for Trying??

So, I thought it would be great to post our calendar on this blog, but I have found it next to impossible to actually figure out how to get a calendar on here. I am having issues with my google account and google's calendar maker and I have tried other ways to post a calendar on here and it's just not working. I guess that I will just rely on the old fashioned photocopy calendar and pass it out on Sunday. I'm not really sure anyone is looking at this blog anyways! So, of you are interested in getting the calendar on this blog and you have the knowledge and computer wits to help me with it, that would be great! Otherwise, my only option is to hand out printed copies on Sunday. Any comments? (hello...is anyone out there???)~~~Laura

Ideas

I'm not sure if any is reading this yet, but let's get some suggestions for activites for the calendar. So far, these are some ideas:
-Park day
-Pool Day
-Beach Day
-Free Movies
-Summer Kid's Book Club
-Sea World
-Zoo and/or Wild Animal Park
-Legoland
-Free Museums
-The Wave water park
-Bowling
New possibilites:
-Kid's cooking club
-Craft/Scrapbooking day with kids(maybe YW could help)
-Breakfast get together in jammies with your favorite stuffed animal
-Cake decorating contest

Let throw all kinds of ideas out here. The more the better! I'd also love to see some ideas from everyone about celebrating the last day of school. Does your family have any fun traditions? Family Fun magazine has some fun ideas on their website. We had a great time last year with a few of their ideas. Check it out here
Please share your ideas and summer stories too!

Suggestions anyone?

Ok, so as summer is coming around I have been thinking about the summer calendar. First of all I Shauna, can't be responsible for doing it this year. I have too many things going on with too many different schedules to keep track of. With that said, I would still love the option of going to activities. I love the idea of a summer calendar because it really brings people together in a social setting and the kids get to play with each other while the adults can talk. All of this while doing things that you would already be doing like going to the pool, or the beach or the park, etc. Soooooo Laura M. and I were thinking that maybe we could just have a summer blog, and everyone that wants to post can be a "poster", or people could just leave comments. So if you were going to say be at the beach, you could just post it on the blog and people could check it every week or every day (if you wanted to) to see if there are things going on that week. So it would be a little less formal, and the blog could also be a way to talk to others like the yahoo group that we used to do, only it would be voluntary if you wanted to read the posts.

I don't know for sure what the official Relief Society groups will be this summer, I only know that this is not endorsed by the church in any way, so these are all unnoficial del norte activities. So I guess my question is do you want to...

1. Just get everyone that wants to on the posting list and then when people do things that they want others to join they could put it on the blog..

2. Do an unofficial official calendar that we print up and pass out at church (however if you vote for this you automatically become the one responsible)...

3. Have somewhat of a schedule like tuesdays park day, wed beach day etc. (we will also need volunteers for pools)...

4. Do something else that I haven't written, please put your suggestions in the comments.

Thanks for your ideas-Shauna
